The Exhaustion of Leading a Social Service Agency: A Call for Change
Leading a social service agency, especially one dedicated to child welfare, is an immensely challenging and emotionally taxing responsibility. Having spent five years in this role, I can confidently say that the exhaustion it brings is not just physical but deeply emotional and psychological. The constant advocacy, the never-ending stream of bureaucratic hurdles, and the weight of making life-altering decisions for vulnerable children and families can feel overwhelming. However, within this exhaustion lies an opportunity—an opportunity for growth, systemic change, and improvement.
